Why being a crack dealer is the worst job in America

This is a interesting lecture by Steve Levitt (author of the Freakenomics) about the economic realities of drug dealing during the worst phase of the US crack epidemic in the 1990s. 20 mins - click to view.

Having read the book I know what he is refering to. Its an interesting study, but it comes from a very small evidence base, its based on the accounts of one gang at one point in time. You can make interesting guesses from this as to how other gangs work, but you can not extrapolate out to the market as a whole.
